Any info appreciated

Hello,

I have a few questions (btw i'm a freshman).  Firstly, I was offered an interview with SAC Capital Partners. The HR person just told me that students are placed in the Operations department.  What does this exactly mean? What will my work consist off?

Thanks in advance, and best of luck to the rest of you lot with ur interviews!

Operations is just back office work... you make sure that the firm funtions properly. Not the most exciting job and is unlikely to benefit you if you plan on looking at front-office positions down the line.

I would say as a freshman this is a decent opportunity.  Probably not what you're looking to do after you graduate, but considering most freshman won't be doing anything career related this summer, this can't hurt.

Unless you have other offers (congrats if you do) I'd take it.

Thanks for the response!!

Also, does anyone have a rough idea on the pay for these kinds of jobs? At this point, it's not the most important thing, but it's still nice to know :)
