Apply ASAP or Wait until Networking?

So.... a ton of job postings have been out by now. Most appear to be rolling. Do I throw out an application or wait until I've talked with bankers at the firm? If I do submit application now, would I then just inform bankers that I'm networking with that I already applied and hopefully they can help push resume? Any thoughts on how to navigate the online applications with referrals would be greatly appreciated.

You need to be networking as i'm typing this but what I'll say is that I've made stronger cover letters/tweaks to my resume because of networking discussions I've had. The honest truth is that the off chance that a vp pulls your resume from the no pile because of a good phone call is higher than missing the window in its entirety.

Edit: Have any banks actually opened and closed already? That seems like insanity. My 2¢ is that this advanced timeline for recruiting is all going to bite the banks in the ass (if it hasn't already) in the form of WAY more misses with interns and FT. I'm recruiting after three semesters of generals and an intro to accounting class. There's a tipping point for this stuff
