Are rejections ok?

Hi everybody,

I have applied to several internship programmes last year (all S&T) and got a rejection for all of them. I have done my undergraduate degree at a non-target-university in Europe with an equivalent of a good A- (or around 3.4 GPA).

Due to the fact that I will be getting an advanced degree in an engineering discipline from a target university and that I will definitely do it much better than my undergraduate degree for a lot of reasons which should both strenghten my application, I am thinking about when to apply for an analyst position.

I could apply now for 2013 without having started my advanced degree for or in September/October 2013 for 2014.

Therefore I would like to get some advice of you guys when to apply. If I apply now and get rejected, would it be a problem to apply again next year? Would the banks see my application and think "This guy again. He unsuccessfully applied for an internship and for an analyst position" and directly drop it into the "no"-pile?

A friend of mine said I should apply for an internship instead of an analyst position. What do you think about that? Is it easier to get an internship and than transfer into a full time role than get an analyst position directly? I thought that there are much more full time positions than internship position, so I concluded that it would be easier to get an interview for the former. The interview process is more difficult for full-time position, of course, but my main goal at the moment is getting the interview because I am very good prepared for these.

Thanks!
