Asking for a Rec on LinkedIn

I get along very well with the senior guys at the place I'm working at the moment. My LinkedIn profile is a bit empty, and I believe that having a recommendation from one or two of them would go along way. Is it taboo to ask someone to write a recommendation for you for LinkedIn?

Ofourse you can ask them. LinkedIn is becoming more and more popular. Make sure you have been there long enough. If you're a summer intern, I would suggest waiting until the internship is over then do it. Also, I would only ask them if they have an active LinkedIn account and you can tell that they use it, not just signed up for it 6 years ago and have 3 connections.

That doesn't mean you should ask your MD if he will post on your wall
