Background check: getting paranoid (UK)
I’ve read couple of posts before but haven’t found the info that would apply to my situation.
I interned for the company through network - it’s was a lengthy internship but it was unpaid (which is the norm in my country - not UK). So I don’t hold the contract but I do have the manager who I worked with and she is able to confirm. I’m just slightly paranoid that it will be flagged and my offer might get rescinded?
Anybody had the same issue? Please share insights on how to navigate this. Thanks!
You’ll be fine just put down their contact info I frankly never had any of my internships (paid) confirmed at all & never had education verified either. They’re rlly strict about criminal & background checks but aside from that it’s rlly lighter than most think for FT grad, OC, & SA. I interned in both the US & UK
But I didn’t specify on my resume that it was the unpaid gig to be fair, is that still a problem or is there a question during the form filling whether it’s paid or unpaid?
Yeah I remember there was an option for that. I really wouldn’t worry especially in the UK I felt that one was even lighter than the US.

Will a reference letter do? Or they need to call the employer? I was working in a small boutique with no contract, can I just show proof or ask from a past senior employee to verify, in case my boss won’t answer any phone calls?

Internships are often unpaid and this is normal in most places. I wouldn't worry about it.
As far as I can tell they wouldn't even confirm this, they may reach out and ask whether they know you and whether you were placed there at all. That's mostly it.
