OP here,

did not lie about anything. Only thing “shady” I have is that I work unpaid for a financial advisor, so I am not on HR payroll. But he said that he will vouch if need’s confirmed. 

 

From my experience, it took anywhere from as short as 0.5 month to as long as 1.5 months.

During that time, if the background check firm requires any clarification from your end (additional contacts at previous firms, paperwork, etc), they'll reach out.

If not, they'll send you a copy of their report when they're done, which lays out their findings and discrepancies, if any, vs. the information you input yourself on the background checking company's website.
