Background check: Incoming BB intern with dismissed felony/fraud charge

Hi all, long-time member here but going incognito with a burner account today. I've got a bit of a situation on my hands about a background check for this summer internship I landed. Could really use some advice!

7 years ago, I was arrested on a felony/fraud charge, but both charges were dismissed without conviction. Since it was a federal case, expungement isn't an option. I've confirmed this by obtaining my FBI rap sheet.

The internship requires an FBI-level background check, including fingerprinting. My specific concerns are:

  1. Impact on Summer Employment: Given that NYC law states employers cannot inquire about arrests that did not lead to conviction, can HR  bring this up or use this to rescind my offer? (I did not lie on the application as it only asked for conviction)

  2. Confidentiality Concerns: Will HR disclose this to my group supervisor/colleagues? I'm concerned about how this might affect my chances of a return offer

  3. Legal Advice: What type of attorney should I consult for guidance and protect my rights?

Bro how’d u catch federal fraud charges at like 15 (if ur an undergrad)?

Just to clarify, I'll be joining as a summer associate.

Regarding the fraud charge, it occurred when I was identified and arrested by customs upon entering the States.

No idea on how this will play out, I’m just an intern, but u weren’t convicted of anything it was dismissed right? Ig that means u got a good lawyer, talk to him about it
