Bad Luck

Hello everyone

I just wanted some advice regarding my current situation. After having turned down a couple of Ivies to attend a top Liberal Arts college, and after having worked hard my first three years at college, I managed to get a summer internship in a decent sized hedge fund (think 5-10 bil) that regularly makes headlines for its huge investments in Large Cap firms.

I worked hard this summer and was the only intern to get positive reviews and the firm indicated to me that they would like to have me back. However, with markets going nuts, they have decided to go on a hiring freeze and even though they have offered to strongly recommend me to other places, I am currently entering full time recruiting with no job offers in hand.

This is in itself not a problem. The real issue is that my college is a semi target (mostly for the IBD) and a quick look at the WSJ tells me that I have little to look forward to.

I have decided to resort to cold calling and I wanted to see if you guys had heard anything on the street about who's hiring and who's firing. My top priorities are ER and IBD in that order. The second part of my question was to see if you guys had any ideas on how I can sell my story...

Thanks!
