Bank of Canada to IB later on? Really difficult situation I am in - first post
Hey guys! Hope everyone is doing well!
I just had a question and I am really in a difficult situation. I received a Risk Research position offer from the central Bank of Canada and I am currently in my third year of studies at top school in Canada with okayish grades. The thing is, I am currently in school and they offered me a position for next week - meaning that I would have to drop out of Uni and go to Ottawa. I have a couple of questions for the pros here:
- Is it worth it to drop Uni and go to the Bank? I am still applying to many other places for summer internships and have had interviews but no offers as of yet. I would fall behind 1 year since this is a long term co-op position (8 months)
- Is it possible to go from being central banking to IB or Private Equity?
My father is really suggesting to me not to go while my friends are persuading me to go. I am currently studying Statistics and Economics double major with a minor in Commerce.
Thanks so much guys!
Do not drop out of school. You will never transfer from anything to banking without a college degree
No, maybe I wasn't clear but it is a co-op job. So i drop out for ~8 months then I return to my school to complete my degree!
