BB IBD or Bridgewater Investment Associate Intern

I was thinking about applying for "Investment Associate Intern" at Bridgewater for my junior summer, as opposed to a typical IBD SA gig.

My question is: would this internship at Bridgewater have any chance at leading to a real investing position there? Or do we think this might just be a middle-office type role looking up stuff and producing reports- with no real chance of advancing into a front office-type role one would be looking for coming out of IBD.

I guess I just don't know if a HF like Bridgewater would give any responsibility to a kid coming out of undergrad, and if you never get any responsibility, could you really advance?

Thanks for the advice!

I have a couple IBD SA offers, I'm really just trying to decide whether the Bridgewater thing is worth pursuing/interviewing for. If people think it'll be middle-officeish, in my opinion it probably isn't worth pursuing. Just looking for thoughts/guidance. Thanks

no no OP you're so right - there's no way that an investment associate role would actually lead to a position involving investment. i'm pretty sure only their investing associates are afforded that opportunity.
