BB Project Ops ---> IBD/S&T

Apologies in advance as I know there are a million of these "can I get the job" forums...but what the hell.

I'm currently working at a BB in a project manager capacity in ops but never really wanted to go down this deep, dark path (internship abroad after graduation turned into FT). Have always been interested in IBD for its "do the deal" mentality as well as S & T for its quantitative nature. I graduated in '05 with a degree in econ from a target west coast school. GPA = 3.45

Can I leverage a couple of years of PM/BA experience at a BB into a boutique/MM/BB front office gig? I know ops has a certain stigma but those in projects are generally of a higher caliber than your standard issue ops line guy/gal (at least at my bank).

Also, does anybody recommend IBD client onboarding as a step in the right direction? I'm thinking yes since it is client-focused and can enhance my product/industry knowledge, but your opinions are appreciated.
