This is a stupid conversation anyways. There is a 99% chance that whoever you are randomly trying to cold-contact is going to ignore you anyways. I don't think it is the best idea to just be emailing people who you don't know well enough to have gotten their business card or phone number at some point. I know I wouldn't appreciate kids who I don't know somehow getting ahold of my email and contacting me. If you know this person somehow, call up the main Bear Stearns line and ask to talk to them. If you get their voicemail just tell them who you are and how you know them and ask if you can get their contact info so that maybe you could speak in the future. If you don't know this person, it's real creepy to just be piecing their email address together and sending them an email.

I have already lined up one interview by using this methodology. I really have nothing to lose if they don't like it they don't respond if they are willing to help they respond. I think calling these people is more annoying because I would be interrupting them during their work day where as they can check their email on their own schedule. I have come to learn that people respect initiative. I have to do what ever it takes to network in this business because it is incredibly difficult getting a trading desk coming from a non target school, it is essential I take more risk than the competition in my opinion. Failure is not an option.

Yes of course, it is never first.middle.lastname@bear.

I should get on the line with my contacts at Bear and let them know they need to change their email addresses to the correct form, which always holds, since clearly there's no way that Bear would employ two JSmith's at the firm.

Glad the college kids on this forum could help correct me on this, and tell me how things are, since clearly someone like me who has actually done deals with a number of folks at Bear Stearns wouldn't be familiar with this sort of thing. It is posts like this that really make me question why I even try to help people on this forum.
