I'd be willing to take many IB or AM jobs regardless of location, because there aren't a ton in my home city. With that said though, I don't have the money to fly out to different places for interviews. Do most companies pay to fly you out? Or is that just too expensive for first year analysts? If they don't fly you out, do they at least do phone interviews?

If you are far away, usually first rounds are phone interviews and then the banks fly you out/provide accomodations for final rounds.
That^^ or they meet you on campus and then fly you out.
Usually, for second/final round interview, they fly you out even for analyst positions, however, some smaller companies may make you pay - this is farily rare so don't worry about it
