Can Someone Please Tell Me About a Career as an Analyst at F500 (non-banking) company?
Hi,
So basically, I'm just wondering if someone can tell me about what the career path for someone working in finance at a F500 or actually any company (outside of banking institutions) looks like? How does one start a career here, what are the day to day responsibilities, what are exit opps/growth opportunities within the company, basically any info anyone has would be great because google and most other search options I've used have more info on banking/consulting than these "other" finance careers.
thanks
bump
Bugmenot, the finance divisions within f500 companies all are pretty much the same as your finance divisions (back-office function) in banks. The finance division is pretty broad and offer a few types of teams. the first can be a corporate strategy team where you'll be doing ad-hoc analysis for senior management on prospective initiatives for example. Another area is Planning & Analysis/Business Management where you'll be responsible for weekly/monthly reports of P&L's, headcount trends, and forecasting/budgeting for the current and following year.
I've spent the past few months as an analyst within the finance division at a BB but I do have a number of friends that work in finance at large non-banking corporations such as Xerox, Microsoft and Macys
