Can this get me blacklisted ?

Hi monkeys, I'm currently in still in college and will graduate this December. The roles I'm recruiting for start during the summer of 2021. I will have about a 5 month gap in between. I do not intend on sitting on my ass in the meantime. Would it be looked down upon if I take on a FT job in between that time (think middle office type work) and leave when the role I'm really pursuing begins? Has anybody pulled off something similar?

Bro fuck around and go on a trip somewhere (assuming post-covid) or just learn some skills on your own. Work on a passion project or something. There has to be SOMETHING that you like as a hobby right?

Unless you're hurting for cash, there's literally no need for you to start a 5 month stint. I wouldn't say it's bad on your resume per se but you literally develop no new skills that apply to your actual job (MO like you said) and it's not going to help you in any way to have it on the resume.

Once you start full time you'll be begging to have a 5 month break.

I’d be careful with this. If you have a binding contract for future employment at a financial institution, there is likely a clause prohibiting you from taking employment at another financial institution in the interim. I’m not positive, but it’s worth checking with HR before you put yourself in jeopardy. Alternatively, there were people in my analyst class who graduated in December and then negotiated a February start date as opposed to July, so you could consider doing that.

My personal advice - unless you badly need the money, enjoy the time off. Read some books, explore some hobbies. Once you start working, you’ll never have this kind of free time again. Enjoy it while you can.
