Career Advice/ Job Choice

Hi All,

Currently in need of career advice and would appreciate any insights & guidance!

I current work as a PWM product manager at a commercial bank in a regional market( SG/HK) and am recently considering two offers:

AM Insti Sales Support at BB/  S&T fixed income sales at a commercial bank with decent prestige

I've had less than two years of work experience across Ops trade support at BB and investment product manager at a commercial bank( not IB). I left the trade support role as (1.) I found it's not feasible to move into FO in the next few years and was afraid of being stuck in Ops (2.) it was located in a local market whereas my current role in regional market( SG/HK) (3.) lack of product exposure due to the nature of Ops. However, the reasons why I am looking out is because I've come to realization that there are very few( or almost none) colleagues here know what they are doing and the fear of not growing in terms of career has been overwhelming myself. Not sure the lack of professionalism if it's due to retails sales-oriented nature or any other factor( like commercial bank vs Investment Bank), but I am just convinced that staying here prob is gonna harm my career more.

My goal has been always to be in a FO position and am open to any divisions( maybe slightly towards S&T which was the reason why I took the first job) Honestly, looking back I think it was a wrong move for me to have left BB while it was a Ops role( but still I dont wanna work in Ops). Given all above, I would appreciate any perspectives and advice on which one you would choose or if I should just stay.

  1. AM insti sales support at BB

  2. Fixed income sales at a commercial bank with decent prestige
