Career Conundrum

Hi All,

I have two prospective paths in front of me and I am unsure on which one to take. First I should mention that I am based in the UK, am 27, hold one integrated masters in physics and another masters in computer science, and my only professional job was at KPMG where I worked in audit for three years and completed the exams for the ACA qualification. I did the computer science msc over the past year and am now returning to work.

Recently I have an offer from Morgan Stanley for a financial controller associate. At the same time I have an offer from BlackRock for an implementations consultant (working with Aladdin and helping clients with accounting procedures and portoflio migration etc...). I want to pivot into more FO facing roles even though on paper I'm more BO and both of these roles are more BO

My question is this - if I wanted to pivot, which one would be the better place to start? I know internal mobility at MS is good so I would see the FC role as a foot in the door and I would network and upskill hard in my spare time until I got an MO or FO type role after 18 months. Alternatively, I know that experience with Aladdin is highly valued and transferable, with solid progression or exit opportunities to the Portfolio Analytics Group.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I understand the pivot is a lot of work ofcourse, but I'm confident in my abilities and knowledge in this regard. I'm more wondering which path would be the better option here if I wanted to land an FO/MO role within the next three years.

Thank you in advance!
