Career Crossroads - IBD vs. MBD from MO

What's up Monkeys

Wanted to gauge the opinion of you guys on here as it seems I'm starting to gain a lot of positive momentum in making the hop from a Middle Office (Operations) Role to a Front Office Role at a BB. I currently work in a Syndicate Execution group in Dallas that directly supports the LevFin Capital Markets desk in NYC. I've recently garnered some attention from some senior folks in Investment Banking by executing well on a high focus project and have been told by my MD that a few partners in Investment Banking were going to speak to the head of the Cap Markets group on my behalf (as I've previously expressed my desire to join this group). Prior to being made aware of this I had applied and interviewed for a newly-created Alternatives Capital Markets/Investor Relations role in the Merchant Banking arm of our firm. I've received good feedback on my interviews and will conduct a powerpoint/excel test in the coming weeks for the merchant banking role. This is a brand new top-heavy team based out of NYC that are trying to hire a few juniors in Dallas.

While I have a lot of relevant experience for the LevFin NYC gig and have always wanted to join that group, I'd prefer to stay in Dallas and think this new Alts Cap Markets team would be a great opportunity. Am I crazy for struggling with the pick between the two?
