Clique culture

I am a finance business partner having worked in private/public real estate over 15 years so the interaction with deal team is intense when i was hired as dedicated resources in the investment team. it has been a great three years as the subject expert in the firm but the situation goes south when one of the team members start to question my ability to deliver. i am not sure how quick career track it can be in investment type of roles but he acts even more dominant after he recently got promoted to VP. my issue is how to rebuild my reputation when he has already started to build his clique group which i find it unnecessary to take a toll on me? your experiences to share is greatly appreciated!
