Cold-calling other states/provinces outside of your own

Been on a cold calling spree. I find that I have less success rate for firms that are outside my state/province because of the area code difference. I guess most firms will see that I am from a different area code and they will be skeptical of some other area code's phone number is showing up on their Caller ID?

I would say 8/10 times I would get a pick up from the companies in my area. I would have a 1/10 chance when I try to reach firms outside of mine. Anybody have this same problem? And what's the ideal solution to get over this? Thanks

Dude, no reputable firm is not going to answer the phone because they don't recognize the area code. You're probably just calling places that are too small to have a receptionist. If you want to talk about the actual success rate (i.e. getting an interview) than yeah, out of state places would probably be more reluctant to hire you, but the answer rate shouldn't be any different at all.

Also, cold calling sucks.
