Cold calling process

Hello Everyone!

Today I attempted my first cold call ever and the first place I called was BNP Paribas. They answered and I said can talk to the trading floor manager they said we need a name ( no clue of the persons name). I got transferred to the HR connect which I guess is the reference desk for HR.

Having tried this the first time what can I improve and where did I go wrong? Also when someone cold calls do you call the main banking office and then ask for the desk division.

Thank You!

Not sure what you're trying to gain from this cold calling, but an email is probably more appropriate if you're trying to network for an internship or FT offer.
