Incoming SA, so take the opinion with a grain of salt, but I’ve always believed you’re supposed to move your own schedule around whoever you’re emailing and not the other way around. Also i usually followed up a within 5-7 business days which actually worked surprisingly well.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, including your availability in the initial cold email can be beneficial. It streamlines the process for the recipient by allowing them to choose from the times you've suggested without the back-and-forth. Here's a breakdown of the advice:

  • Including Availability: It's recommended to include a minimum of three dates and times you're available. This makes it easier for the recipient to pick a time that works for them. However, also give them the option to suggest a different time if none of the ones you suggested work for them.

  • Setting Up the Call: After they respond with a preferred time, you should quickly confirm that the number in their email signature is correct and thank them for their time. You should then be the one to set up the calendar invite.

As for the follow-up timing, around two weeks is indeed a good rule of thumb. If you haven't received a response to your initial email, a polite and brief follow-up after a couple of weeks can be effective. It shows persistence without being too pushy. Remember, the recipient's response can also depend on their current workload, so timing can vary.
