Converting "Telephone Chat" to Work Experience

Hi,

After a long slog at emailing boutique banks in London to try and get some work experience (First year at university), I have managed to get a few offers of informal telephone chats with around 4 boutique bank partners.

In my initial email, I only subtly hinted that I was interested in work experience, I mainly asked for a chat about some 'questions' about their time in the industry etc.

I was wondering what the best way of steering these conversations to the topic of work experience would be.

Also, what would be some insightful questions that I could ask these partners.

Cheers,
