Covid Layoff - Not sure where to go from here

Hey Guys,

Recently laid off due to dry pipeline from Covid, along with the rest of the full time transaction services consultants in my practice. Anybody halftime in TS and Audit is exclusively audit at the moment. Not sure where to go from here. It appears transaction advisory hiring is at a standstill with big 4 and boutique consulting firms. I have ventured out and started looking at IB analyst roles and due diligence/integration roles in PE but not getting many bites. Losing out to more experienced candidates in the field. Any thoughts on roles to focus on would be appreciated. 7 years experience in Big4 audit and consulting (intern to manager), 2 years boutique financial advisory strategy and transaction advisory. Bachelors in finance (3.1 GPA), bachelors in accounting (3.9 GPA), Juris Doctorate (3.1 GPA) all from non target. Consulted on well over 100 deals in my career, buy-side and sell-side, some pre LOI but mostly post LOI thru closing, and post closing day 1 readiness and enacting synergies. Staff aug'd on everything from Search Fund associate leading interns in equity research, LBO modeling integrated into analysis databooks for IB, and interim CFO for portfolio companies.

I started reaching out to contacts I had in IB and have some lunches/drinks scheduled but nothing giving me overwhelming feelings of hope right now. I have some PE contacts as well but I am in smaller middle market so there aren't a ton locally, and it appears no one is looking for associates currently. Looking for some senior level advice as to where I may be able to focus my search that I may not have thought of.
