You should be prioritizing Analyst/ASO/VP rather than recruiters. Recruiters are just the middle men, you need to get the actual investment team on the phone. MDs are also pretty unlikely to respond to emails / don't get involved in recruiting so a lot of wasted effort there.

For large companies the format is usually [email protected]. Sounds like these are smaller companies, Apollo.io is a good place to start and some you'll just have to accept will not be going to the right people.

Make sure to attach your resume as well.

Also I think it's a bit early to be emailing for freshman internships, send a few dozen out to see, but if you're not getting responses I would bet most of these companies aren't even going to think about freshman interns until early 2024.

Appreciate the comment. Good point on the recruiters thing, I’ll start to target more VP’s/Associates compared to MD’s or recruiters. And yeah I’ll just try to narrow down with Apollo and email checkers to make sure I’m sending to the proper email address.

I talked to my career coach and she mentioned that although it’s early for summer internships, it might be worth a shot to reach out now. Worst case if they are interested but not currently recruiting for internships, they’ll tell me to come back in a few months?

I live in Dallas so figured I’d reach out to all the Austin companies for spring internships and Dallas for the summer ones so I can “double” my odds. Do you think it’s okay to reach out for spring internships now and wait a few months for summer internships?
