Why LA is the most important question for LA banking, you mess that up they probably won't take you no matter what. I recruited super heavily for LA (did not attend a west coast target or have personal connections to LA) and I had to do a ton of convincing that I genuinely wanted to be there. Ended up getting a few looks and did get an offer but I was also lucky that I had knew people that had connections to LA that could crack open the door for me. If it wasn't for that I don't think I would have gotten an offer. LA banking is sick though and you should definitely at least try. Timeline wise it depends, the processes I was in were all pretty slow, slightly faster than NY but slower than SF. HL was abnormally early this year though.
