Deleting google result question
Whats up guys,
So after seeing that employers do a quick google search of your name after applying for a job, I decided to check mine and make sure all was good. Besides the typical shit I was indifferent about (my name being used in the school paper because I had friends who wrote for it and I gave them permission to make up quotes for me, lol) there was one result I wanted gone. It was a blog my friend wrote and I contacted him asking him to take my name down and he did. Now here is the question.
The result is still coming up in google searches even though my name is no longer on the page. I already did some research and I understand that google searches for cached pages and that if your name is on the cached page but not the current one, it will still come up as a result until google recrawls. The thing I dont get is that my name is on neither the cached page nor the current page yet google is still returning it as a result (I know the process to resolve this if it was still on cached but not the current).
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas lemme know. One last thing, whether I get it as a result or not also depends on the server I'm using. Going through google chrome it wont get it as a result, but searching through internet explorer it does (that may be an irrelevant piece of info but figured I'd include it just in case)
there's a tool called Google public URL remove that you could use. http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1663688
or you could try contacting Google directly and speaking with the legal department
Google has thousands of redundant servers, they aren't all completely in sync. Give it a few more days and you should be in the clear.
If it is coming up in a different browser might want to check your cache
it takes a few days.
Google's spiders crawl the web constantly looking for new info. Depending on the amount of traffic your friends blog gets it should be gone within the next week or so.
Does traffic have to do with how long it'd take? Cuz it gets like none (literally zero, he dusnt write on it anymore) and its been about 2 weeks since I've had it deleted. In any case, I consider it not coming up in the chrome search as a promising sign, lol. I just feel like it shouldn't be taking this long
If it's not coming up in a different browser then it's gone. Don't sweat it brah.
