Director rescheduled 5 times for coffee chat, when should I stop following up?

Director rescheduled 4 times for a coffee chat, on the 5th time he no showed. I followed up on the no show, and he was apologetic - but when do I need to get the hint? I'm looking for some advice of when I should get the hint, or he is actually very busy and I should remind him.. Perspective from the other side would be great, thanks guys!

Keep being persistent. At some point they'll either ghost you or the dude will answer.

I had this issue at a firm too (Moelis) and I ended up calling and he pushed resume and i got the offer. declined it ASAP when i got a competing offer though.

I mean it’s entirely possible that he is very busy. He would not respond to ur follow up if he wants to ghost u

You should also not focus significant efforts to chat with this one director nor feel entitled to a chat - you and other prospects are not his client, supervisor, employee or friend, but rather just a random student reaching out from the pool of hundreds of prospects who pop up in his recruiting inbox every year, he has no reason to respond to you at all. Be persistent in your search but network with people in other groups instead - their group could be very busy.

When I was in uni, similar events happened where I had some dialogue with some FT folk, but after they asked for my resume, I sent over my menu-format resume showing 3.3 gpa at the time, and some people likely thought I wasn't strong enough to join their group so they stopped responding after that. But once I pushed past 3.5, this no longer occurred.
