Do you guys think that I can finally get a finance job with good pay because there is a "shortage" of workers?
Hello, I graduated from a semi-top university a couple years ago with a business/finance degree. However, I was not able to land a finance job in NYC after graduation. Since I hear all this news about companies "having a worker shortage" and it being a "job seeker's" market. Do you think that I can FINALLY land a job in finance with high pay even though there are 5+ gap years in my resume after graduation? I also have a low GPA.
Companies need workers right?
Depends what your looking for and whether your experience is transferable. I know my bank (nyc) has been on the hunt recently for analysts. Most will come from our intern program but they are looking outside of the program as well. What are you looking for ? What have you been doing so far ?
I am currently working a job that does not even require a bachelors degree so I dont think my current job have any relatable transferable skills to a finance job.
Then you need to shoot higher. Ask yourself what it is that you really want, and if that’s more money (as most people in finance) then realize it’s going to come at some cost. If you simply want a more interesting role, there are lots of other fields that offer decent pay and upwards mobility. But if you’re all in on finance, you’re not going to get there in one step, and it will take time and effort.
