Does remote intern all require work permit?early 30s to break in?

Hey everyone, I was an international student but has been in a long long gap after graduation without any high profile intern or working experiences in the u.s. to fill in. For now, I really wanna make up by putting some interns onto my resume, but wondering to know that do those interns, especially the remote ones only want the applicants natives or at least holding the work permit or h1b sth? If any chances I can take, pls pls let me know that! I am still waiting for my work permit to be coming but doesnt sound as soon as like half of a year.... By the way, by your precious experience, any thoughts that in which field could a job hunter in her early 30s(31) could break into? ER? S&T?AM? My degree 's from non-target, like 50th by ranking, very weak interns overseas in China, and CFA level 2 candidate(pretty sure to get it passed next year though). No sense of the direction I should make efforts to and still no idea if the chances still left for me. If the trading assistant positions to the most extent overlook your background?? super long gap, non-target etc...? I dont mind taking the series 57 if the path looks feasible. Any point of view, advice, interns spot....are all welcome!!
