Early Recruiting for IBD (Nat Resources/O&G) in Houston, TX
Quick question for anyone out there (I am new to WSO) about recruiting for Houston banks.
I just found out I got into CBS ED and want to recruit for IBD in Houston (for Natural Resources/O&G). I am a female transitioning from working at a Supermajor/OFS/Upstream as an engineer. I did not know about early recruiting until this week when I spoke to an admissions fellow at CBS.
I had two questions about this:
1) What is the timeline for early recruiting? Based on posts from this summer it looks like it takes place prior to school starting and is fully self-guided, is this generally correct? Also is there any list of banks that do MBA diversity recruiting currently (most of the lists I found seem to be dated)
2) If you strike out in early recruiting, will this affect your chances at normal recruiting during that fall semester of MBA?
Going to BUmp this because I am curious to see what other people think.
I am currently in the same boat as you (currently in the energy industry, looking to move to IB). I have seen that IBD in different BB, EB, and MM banks open up randomly and there seems to not be a set time frame, especially with the current oil prices and head-counts for banks being adjusted constantly (in regards to Energy groups at least). Also just curious, how many years were you in industry before moving to grad school?
