EBs Recruitment: discussion thread
So, I’m also very interested in EBs (in London or Paris). Let’s make this post a discussion of everything related to EB recruiting. Feel free to add any info you might find important or useful, unless you want to keep it for yourself (hope not, teamwork remember?!).
My questions are:
When do applications open for EBs that recruit via recruitment agencies? How do I find out whether recruitment agency has begun the process for the firm I’m particularly interested in? CVP for instance. Dartmouth has many positions available on its website but it doesn’t specify for which firms those positions are. Should I find it out by reaching out to people at those firms?
Also, do EBs recruit early into the academic year or do they recruit throughout the regular academic cycle?
Thank you!
EBs pretty much recruit the same way most other places do, many like Rothschild and Lazard use their own internal recruiting system.
Even if the EB recruits via an agency, your application usually goes through the EBs careers page and you’ll simply have the first round interviews with the agency.
As a side note, EB interviews tend to be a bit more technical than the BBs, so do keep that in mind when preparing!
I'm currently going through Rosenbaum textbook and workbook, further I’ll go over technical guides WSP. Is there any materials you could recommend looking into to prepare for technicals as best as I can? Thank you in advance!
Usually the EBs require you to have a bit more technical knowledge but that doesn’t mean you have to know every single complicated detail.
I think the Rosenbaum and WSP are very good resources to prepare! Make sure you understand the basic concepts of accounting, DCFs and multiples very well and can explain them well. Only then I would start reading into the more complicated things, but unless you have bad luck with who your interviewer is, that won’t be asked.
And don’t forget to also work on your behaviorals and personal story etc since personal fit is at least as important as technicals!
You are my saviour! Thank you!
Of course, you’re very welcome!
Feel free to pm me if you have more questions
Also would you say that learning modelling is necessary to get the internship offer? I’m contemplating purchasing a model package although am not completely sure if it’s necessary for internship stage, given I’m going over the materials I’ve mentioned in my prior comment? Thank you! I feel like I’m overwhelming you with questions 😄
