Emailing a final follow up

I interviewed last month with a small PE firm and i think everything went well, but its been 4 weeks and I still havent heard anything. In my interviews I got up to the MD and then did a modeling test. I emailed an analyst from the firm about a week later and asked him when can I expect a decision and he told me they're still in the interview process. I may be a little anxiousto know if I got rejected or not and just wish they would tell me. The MD had asked me to email him a cover letter and I did. Do you think its a bad idea to contact him maybe as one last grasp for air letting him know my desire to work for his firm or should I just take the silent rejection like a man. Thanks.

Look at this way....

Worst case scenario of no follow up - no job offer Worst case scenario of follow up - no job offer

Best case scenario of no follow up - job offer Best case scenario of follow up - job offer

I'd say follow up with them and ask them how the progress is coming along and re assure them of your interest in the firm and the position.
