Engineering or MM-Bank

I'm in a dilemma now. Got 2 offers, one from an oil major, the other from a MM-bank for an IB role.

The oil major is offering more money than the bank. On an hourly basis, the oil major is paying twice as much as the MM. Althought my passion is in finance, it is hard to resist an offer that pays more in absolute terms and involves less work hours.

Gentlemen, I would appreciate any advice your might have for me. Thank you.

Don't base your decesion solely on money, especially at a junior level. Do what you think you're most interested in and will succede at, or what you think will put you in the best position to do what you're most interested in.

If you only care about money, banking is one of the few well traveled paths that can offer you a lot of money very quickly. In five years, will your engineering job pay more than your banking job (keep in mind that banking salary amounts to only 65% of total pay)? Doubtful.
