Entering IB as Associate from PhD
I am entering a phd in political science at a high target school in the UK. the academic job market is perpetually crap such that my advisors tell me I should have backup plans in case I do not get a decent academic job
I am exploring whether IB could be one path, but I do not know how my unconventional background would be perceived
Would I be expected to first do an MBA or start as an Analyst? I do not have any finance background, but I have been told that my quantitative research training and brand of my institution could help me get a foot in the door if I decide to make that pivot
.
God bless your capability for self harm 🫡
I have seen some PhD in Finance / Management Studies entered the industry as Associate, but no other major and mostly at MM / local boutiques only.
Maybe in consulting sector you will have more chance.
