Expert Network | What was your experience?

Hi,

Several expert network of the likes of GLG, Alphasights and Prosapiens, contacted me in the last months.

They offer a rate per hour to provide consultations with:

  • Private Equity Investors – Building Information for an Industry Investment
  • Strategic Planners – Seeking to understand a relevant market
  • Management Consultants – Seeking to rapidly get up to speed on an industry
  • Institutional Investors – Mutual Funds and Hedge Fund Managers

I have not accepted to have a consultation call with a client of them.

I do not know if you could get in breach of confidentiality with your current employer if you speak with a client of them, or how they use this info.

I wanted to hear your views/experiences. Maybe it is safe if you are careful.

Thanks,

I personally think these are not great jobs coming out of college because it’s really hard to pivot and there isn’t much room to advance. Maybe you could take it then go MBA as a route, but idk about that.

Thanks for your answer.

Maybe I need to re-phrase the question, but wanted to know what was the experience to attend these consultation calls (and getting paid an hourly rate) while working full time for another company / fund.

Are there any risks?
