F from 1 Month Summer Study Abroad Course
So this past summer I took a course abroad. It was a 1 month finance course and I ended up getting an F because of administrative issues. Basically the host school told me in order to get a pass grade that I didn't have to sit for the exams. So I told my home school this and they said they don't accept that, so essentially I got misinformation and it resulted in an F. I am currently in the process of petitioning the grade to get it dropped from my transcript but worst case scenario it stays on.
I have a cumulative 3.65 GPA as a math major before the grade and if it stays on my transcript I'll be at a 3.14 (ouch). I'm a junior now so I'm going to be looking for summer gigs; how should I play this on my resume if it comes down to the F staying on? I've had majority As and a few Bs and this random F. Should I just ignore the grade on my resume or how should I play it to have minimal affect on recruiting?
Have you ever heard that if something is too good to be true, it probably isn't true?
How on earth could you believe that not taking exams would yield a passing grade?
Here's some advice: stop being so gullible. On that same application to have the grade dropped, if you can still change it, add a medical difficulty to ensure that you get that shit dropped. MAKE IT UP if you have to (it sounds like you will). Food poisoning, goiter, whatever you have to say to get it through, say it.
Don't be so gullible as to believe that your grade might get dropped because "someone misinformed you." It's very easy for the school to say "Well, you had bad judgment. The grade stands."
I'd raise hell if my GPA were to drop 50 BP because some asshat told me something obviously false and I was stupid enough to believe it.
So if the grade stands, you're going to just act like you don't have that F and report your GPA as a 3.65? Think about that for a second...
As with all the other times these questions come up, you CAN NOT just leave it out of the GPA. Don't you think that's a little ridiculous if people pick and choose which grades they want to keep on their GPA? It doesn't work that way...
You will just have to deal with it and hope that you can explain it to someone and not have your resume get auto dinged because it doesn't make the cut offs.
