Quite similar situation, planning to nail the technicals for interviews (I’m at a target but once at an AC even the Oxbridge guys won’t make it if they don’t know their stuff) and really be able to demonstrate interest in the field (am aiming for RX) for motivational questions / hirevue stages.

Bankers running recruiting (esp. British-educated ones) will probably root for actual UK undergrads vs Italian/French 25 year olds with 24 months of internships and a two year masters (seriously how have you not landed FT with all that).

If you have any alumni at firms maybe reach out, they might be more willing to help a fellow semi-target break in.

How are you studying the technicals? What does your CV look like right now?

My uni does placements so my best bet would be to land lazard’s
