Few advices needed

Hello,
this is my first thread on your website. So I would like to have a few answers. I am a senior French maths and finance student at la Sorbonne, I live in Paris and I am looking for broker/trader position. I don't have any experience in finance, and even though I have few relationships I know it will be really hard to reach my aim for a first experience. So I would like to know what type of jobs should I aim first, and in which city.
Thanks for answering

You have two problems: -Banks are currently downsizing their trading platforms. -In France, exotic trading requires an top tier enginnering degree (X, Mines Paris), and more often that not it is also true for vanilla stuff. Sorbonne or not, they don't give an f.

If you are dead set on having a trader position, you can always start with a quant/risk gig. I am not saying that the jump will be any easier, just that you will have a better understanding of the business for your future applications. A lot of guys go to trading for the wrong reasons and they feel the pain very quickly.

On the other hand, I know for a fact that French banks have a lot of open positions in institutional sales. They have historically been strong in trading and they are trying to even the balance since trading's profitability is declining. They can't find good candidates, cause nobody wants to be that guy.

If you speak german, Merkel is recruiting and London is cool if you don't have working restrictions.
