Finance career with an Accounting Information Systems major
Hi I am an accounting information systems major from Bentley University.
I have been in moderately succesful entrepreneurial ventures for 5 years after graduating, which involved some basic financial analysis work.
I was quite young when I graduated and didn't know what I wanted in life.
Now I've decided I want to go into Finance. I know it's a long shot but I want to do everything I can to eventually work for a hedge fund or in Asset Management at a big firm. Investment banking is also another interest I have.
I have a very strong academic background.
I've read similar topics here and some have said that anyone can work in finance but I would like to know how hard it would be to get into finance with my particular major.
I've thought about doing a masters in finance but I've noticed most finance masters at the top schools are "quant" related, which I'm not so sure I want to pursue.
I'm currently studying for the CFA and will take the 1st exam in december. I'm very confident academically and I will pass this exam and the second one in June (please forgive my seeming prepotency).
I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what my chances are of landing a job in finance and what steps I should take to do so.
Your help is very much appreciated.
Thanks
