Finance internship for UG with only public sector experience?

I am a Junior at a small LAC near NYC, and have yet to find an internship in the financial sector proper. Last summer I worked for a boutique consulting firm (working mostly with tech startups and government clients) and have worked for all three academic years as an intern for the State Dept., first doing macro modeling for a negotiating team, and now working directly as a macro adviser for an Under Secretary.

Would it be possible to make the jump into a proper IB-type internship even though I have no formal finance experience?
