Follow up after a work sample-European HF

Fellow monkeys,

I've recently gone through two rounds of phone interviews for an associate position with a European HF. At the end of the last interview the partner who I spoke with mentioned that they want to see a work sample. I gave him a couple of options of materials that I could provide, he told me to send them over and he'd circle back in a week or so. I sent it to him 2 days later and I got no response that verified he got it or otherwise. It's been about a week and a half now with nothing from the interviewer.

I have heard from the their HR a couple days after this interview who said that they would be shortlisting and following up in a week.

My question is this: Do I try to follow up on my work sample with the interviewer himself even though their hiring manager said she'd follow up? I will say that I think they are fairly serious with my candidacy based on our conversations and that both the two people I've interviewed with have said I sound like a great fit. However, I'm nervous as to what they thought of my work samples and I don't want to be a pest/seem desperate.

Thanks!
