Follow up etiquette

Hi all,

I have three separate situations where I'm having issues getting a response and I'm not sure what to do.

I recently conducted a phone interview with a boutique more than one month ago yet I haven't heard back at all. I followed up with email twice now, each time about 2 weeks apart. Should I try calling them or just assume I'm rejected / stop trying to contact him?

Additionally, I had another interview set-up with another boutique where the VP CC'd two analysts on the email saying one of them would reach out to me to talk (about 4 weeks ago). Once again, nobody contacted me, and I followed up with the two analysts CC'd on the email twice (once again, each time about 2 weeks apart), but have not gotten a response. Do you think I should follow up with the VP instead? I don't want to give the analysts a bad impression of me by going to the VP and saying the analysts aren't responding to my emails. However, it's been over a month now and I'm still not getting any responses and I don't have the phone number for either of the analysts (only the phone number for the VP). Any advice?

Finally, I had an interview for SA position at a MM firm and was put on hold about 3 weeks ago, was told I'd be on hold for probably 1-2 weeks. I followed up with an email last week but haven't heard anything back yet either. Once again, should I try calling?

  1. yes give them a call (you always have a "no" not calling)
  2. yes write the VP (don't give a damn about the analysts)
  3. yes give them a call.

I don't understand why a lot of people on WSO hesitate to call and instead write emails all the time?!
