Following up after a First Round?

Is it ever acceptable to follow up a week+ after having a first round with a firm? I don't want to put any pressure on them, especially when I don't have an exploding offer. Is there any benefit to showing my continued interest and trying to see if a decision has been made, even if the next round may not be for a week or two, vs. pissing off the recruiting team by not giving them enough time to get through all first rounds? Seems like it's an everyone gets first round --> decisions released about next round kind of process. If I had to bet, I'm truthfully pretty sure that I qualified for the next round.

Thanks everyone.

Absolutely do follow up. Showing interest will help. They would be annoyed only if you have been ruled out, in which case there is no downside anyway.
