from research to sales or strategy! what are the chanes?

I need for advice! i am 31 and currently working for a Asset Management firm in research. After doing my masters i joined a mid level bank graduate programme and after rotating around various functions for 2 years ended up in macro research which i did for 3 years before moving into to my current role and doing more or less the same type of work.

the thing is i am desperate to move out of research into another role possibly sales or strategy role, which i believe suits my personality more, know i should have done it earlier but well cant go back in time! what i am doing now is look forward and trying to get into a more exciting role! i am not sure how to go about it, all sales jobs require previous experience in sales, but i believe that my background in maco will be beneficial to any role. I just need a break and with hiring being freezed in many banks, it is becoming increasingly hard. i am even considering doing an MBA in the hope it will help me change direction...anywhere i apply they keep telling me to do research but i dont want that anymore. Any advice would be very helpful

thanks

What is motivating you to make the switch? If it's money, i would think there's more money in staying in research moving to a HF or being a PM. No?
