Getting dinged by HR but got contact inside
Hey, found myself in a bit of a pickle.. I applied to a portfolio management role and I'm worried about getting dinged by the HR before they pass on my CV to my contact (MD) inside the firm. I told my contact before applying and he welcomed my application but did not tell me to call up or email him after applying. I should be waiting for the HR to call me next week or the week after should they invite me for another round.
How should I go on? I'm not best buddies with the MD and I am not expecting him to help me skip through all the way to final rounds, but I guess he would def bump me into HR tests etc.

Anyone? Should I email him asking if he is aware of the process?
