Getting ghosted...this one hurt
Ranting....someone in my network connected me with an ER analyst at a mid-market bank (position is not advertised but they need resources).
Had the interview with analyst, went well and scheduled a meet with Head of Research (I've met him before, friends with my current boss). Had an interview with him too which I thought went well, he asked to read a sample report I wrote and that we talked about in the interview. I send it to him a couple of hours later.
9 days later, I followed up and still no response from them. This one really hurt, I felt I had everything needed this time (connections, work sample, experience, etc.) and at a firm that was more obtainable. Back to no leads, I've been trying to break in since 2020 and am currently 0/5 from interviews (many many more from failed applications)...feel like the universe is telling me this ain't it.
Do you know how many times I have heard NO or been ghosted from Tier 1 firms? If there is a will there’s a way god dammit.
When one door closes another one opens. I tried from 2019 to get into a top investment role and it just recently happened with “the universe” telling me otherwise. Fuck the universe go out there and get yours.
Critically review yourself as a human and professional (body language, vocals , how am I being perceived, am I lacking technically) after every interview - reiterate improve and conquer. You can’t beat a man that never gives up and improves day by day. Be better and regardless of who you know you can land where you want to.
