Gift For Trading What Field Should I Go Into ?

I have been trading a personal account on and off for nearly 3 years and have been immensely profitable with the small amount of capital I have.

My recent trade on 190 and jan spy puts appreciated almost 1000% when I sold them. I trade futures & options and hold anywhere from 1-10 days. I'm a big fan of convexity/optionality.

I am currently in first year of finance & economics in non target university.

What field should I go into ?

Prop traders don't hold overnight while I hold almost all my trades over night.

Hedge fund, IB, prop firm which one will net me the most money over 10-20 years trading ?

Accounting. Get good grades and you might have a shot at the big 4.

You are obviously joking, why on earth would I go into that joke of a field.

It's not that you'd want to, it's just the only finance related field where you have a realistic shot at being successful. If you work towards it from day one, you may actually get a position by the time you graduate. If you delude yourself into thinking you'll get an offer at a respectable hedge fund, coming from a non-target in Dublin with a bad attitude and no relevant experience, you'll end up scrambling when you ultimately come up empty handed.

What makes you think I have a bad attitude ? I am a pretty pleasant person in real life which landed me a summer job in retail LOL

What 1st year student has relevant experience ?

Ignoring location because I have the financial resources necessary to go abroad to London, Paris etc and work for free for a full summer if needed. I need some realistic guidance because the only firms where I live are back office/corporate banking services. Is there any reasonable step I can take that will end me up at a hedge fund ?

Graduating top grades and doing a masters at a target such as oxford or LSE is all I can think of at this time.

How about the fact that you have a few lucky option trades and you publicly declare your 'gift' for trading? Then you ask if IB will make you the most money in trading (along with hedge funds and prop trading). You are a know nothing who comes across as a know-it-all. That is a terrible combination and is what makes people think you have a bad attitude.

I only tell you this because you asked the question and it seems that nobody in real life is relaying this message to you.

Regardless, you are still extremely young, so you can make a change now and impact your future in a positive way. Stop thinking that you are special, figure out a reasonable path for your success, and work hard towards your goals.

Also, take a step back and realize how your words hit people. It relates to a concept called 'self-awareness' and is one you need to become more familiar with and quickly.

Good luck.
