Give it to me straight. What are my chances?
I am going to be a senior at a non-target school, with an average gpa/resume, and do not major in finance. I have a relative who is an MD at GS whom i chatted with on the phone last week, and I'm going to visit him in a few weeks at his office. If by some chance he is able to get me an interview at GS, what are my chances of landing a job offer if I do everything in my power to prepare? Thanks.
He'll get you the interview, after that it's on you. And know that the competition is fierce.
Yep - interview will only come your way if there is a spot open for something, and if there is you won't be the only person they're interviewing.
Once you're in the room though, if they like you the best the job is yours.
