Go back for same interview?
I interviewed for an intern position about 3 weeks ago and have not heard back from them until today. The situation is they sent me an email today saying they went over my resume and they would like me to come in for an interview. This is pretty much the same email they sent me the first time before I interviewed. I am 95% sure the HR department doesn't realize I already interviewed for this position a few weeks ago.
The question is do I go back again and interview for the same position?
I am thinking that it shows dedication if I go back and I have another shot to make a great impression. If I get questioned, I can always say that I was assuming this was a second round interview.
You risk making yourself look stupid... I would email back and say that "I have had an initial interview with the firm 3 weeks ago and would welcome this opportunity to return for another interview." See what HR says...that shows dedication IMO instead of replying "I already had an interview this is a mistake" or just going back and pretending you thought it was a second round. Just my 2 cents. The way I look at it is the only way I have a chance at the internship is if I go back again. I haven't heard from them in 3 weeks so I am assuming that I wasn't chosen the first time and this could be my second chance. They are the ones that messed up so I do not think I would look stupid.
I may take your advice and tell them that I recently interviewed but that is risky.
